RB6 Year 2 Season 1 – Operation Velvet Shell

So, if you are like me, you try to go to the Ubisoft website to find updates of your favorite games; unfortunately though, they didn’t update their site with the release of the Velvet Shell DLC (Name is quite interesting). So after scouring “other” media outlets, I have a little bit of information to share with you.

Velvet Shell will take place off the Mediterranean coast of Spain on an island called Ibiza (pronounced Ib-ith-a). Now having personally been to Ibiza, I can tell ya, it is a beautiful resort town known for its beaches and massive parties. The map (called coastline) focuses on what looks like an exclusive resort. There is a large main building with a big pool and spa on the back, and a couple of out buildings that could be used for Glaz to set up on. The approaches look like they could come from a road leading to the island (think land bridge), what could be a boat landing (pier), and then God only knows the third spawn location.

There has been absolutely no actual news on the upcoming operators; however, we can infer from the previous DLCs that there will be one male and one female operator added. More than likely, the male will be the attacker and female on defense, and there are rumors that one of them may be getting some type of cloaking device (rumors only, though I would find this special ability to be too COD like, unless it is done just right). Now there are a ton of videos that are playing the trailer that was released, so you can spot them on YouTube if you search for them, but the few that I have watched had more speculation than anything. Many gamers have been searching for the “Easter eggs” and they are claiming to have figured out the names of the new operators and what not, but please remember, they are speculative at best, and so far, not one has been right to date, when looking back at their previous guesses.

I am going to sign off with this: Ubisoft is terrible at promoting the updates to this game, and unless you are subscribed to their YouTube channel, you will have to read abut the updates via other media sources, the kinds that host more advertising than a porn site. The update comes out on 2-8-2017, and please remember, if you haven’t already purchased the year 2 season pass, you will need to buy it soon to get the new operators a week early! Happy hunting.

Rainbow Six: Siege Update/Patch 5.3 1/11/2017

So, it is patch time yet again, but this time it will be a bit boring compared to the mid season reinforcements I wrote about earlier.  Here are the “highlights:”

The stuff they are finally fixing:

Barricaded doors and walls will no longer have those annoying pieces hanging around.

IQ:  Now you won’t lose visibility of your pistol if you drop from something while holding a breach charge (okay, how did someone find this one… the release says “any height” yet, whenever I drop, I usually die)

Hibana and Echo:  Kills don’t count towards weekly challenges… Hey, what about getting wins with these operators, will that count towards the challenges?

Echo:  On the occasions where his drone hits invisible walls, well, that won’t happen anymore!

Fuze:  Bomblets will take out breakable floors again (I guess I will have to get used to looking for the drops again, crap!)

Valkyrie:  The black eye cameras will no longer float when thrown at a broken barricade… More invisible wall type of stuff is being fixed, yay!

Frost:  The bear trap will no longer trigger on an elevated surface without being hit by the other team… (that was annoying, glad that is being corrected)

Twitch:  The shock drone’s noise will be heard correctly when it tazes things. (not sure what that actually means, guess the sound wasn’t resonating correctly).

Allegedly, they fixed the crazy legs issues in the kill cams… I liked that view, they called it raptor legs, I called it flamingo legs, either way, that is fixed.

If you watched my Bartlett University camera location video you will notice that I show you a camera in the upstairs hall that doesn’t exist on your camera view options… Well, that has been fixed.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare “Sabotage” DLC Update:

Activision announced that the first DLC “Sabotage” will drop on January 31st for the PS4. This DLC will include 4 new maps and the next episode of Zombies!

Quick and Dirty on the Maps:

Noir: Futuristic Brooklyn, NYC setting where you will have three main lanes of dark warfare with a badass downtown killing zone!

Neon: Virtual combat arena that uses the physical rules of Call of Duty multiplayer maps (not sure what this actually means, but cool…?) Okay, this has a digital style battleground where vehicles and buildings just spawn out of nowhere and your enemies explode into a ton of pixels when you destroy them. For the snipers out there, you will have an insane sightline down the center of the map, and the run-and-gun players will want to stick to the outside lines to get your fill of CQC fighting!

Renaissance: Venice, Italy setting for your entire killing desires! Think tight roads and avenues where you will be pit against your enemies in bloody warfare in the canals (which Venice is know for) and the different hoods within this amazing city!

Dominion: You may remember this from Modern Warfare 2 (Afghan Map), but has been reimagined… As in, it is set on Mars (WTF?) You will see the many of the iconic landmarks from the original, though you will have a crashed spaceship right in the middle, hint to you snipers, people will probably be camping around this spot!

Now for the Zombies:

“Rave in the Redwoods,” yes, that is the actual name, and it takes you to a 90’s rave themed area out in the woods at an old campsite. You will see new weapons and traps, and you will be introduced to a new character named “The Slasher.” Sounds sweet!

Battlefield 1 Holiday Event!

EA and Dice have announced a bunch of giveaways and events for the Christmas (sorry, “Holiday”) season.

New Custom Game: “Blind Delivery” This game mode is a unique War Pigeons mode where they have turned off the minimap and are only allowing pistols and explosives to be active… Sounds interesting, right?

Free Dog Tag: If you are collector of Dog Tags (well, you are automatically), after 12/22/2016, just by logging in, you will receive the “Holiday Truce” tag… Free is always nice!

Vehicle Skins: Also starting on 12/22/2016, the battlepacks will hold two tank skins, the “Schnuck” and the “Desert Gold.” The images on the site seem pretty cool, but you either have to earn battlepacks or buy them, so do what you do and go after these cool skins!  Speaking of battlepacks, if you login to BF1 between 12/23 and 12/29/2016, you will get a free battlepack. Again, free is always nice!

For you “Premium Pass” holders, logging in to BF1 between 12/23 and 12/29/2016, you will get 2 free “superior battlepacks… Are these considered free even though you paid for the pass already? Just food for thought!

Rainbow Six: Siege Operation Red Crow Mid Season Reinforcement

As Ubisoft does each season in RB6: Siege, a big update is coming out on December 15th.

Here are the latest details regarding the changes:

Tachanka – Major Buff coming out… The deployable machine gun will now have a face shield that has 500hp!!! What? Yes, Tachanka will have a face shield that will act similar to that of Blackbeard, where you will have to destroy it prior to being able to get that headshot that Tachanka has been so kind to provide us over the past year.  Now, to counter this new shield is to use grenades or Capitao’s flame arrows… It still takes a little bit of time for Tachanka to dismount the MG, so this will allow you to cook a grenade and toss it at his feet or over his head.

New Map (Sorta):  Bartlett University (for those that finished all of the situations will recognize this map).  Yes, the map has been redesigned for PvP play, and will be added into the rotation.

Game Tweaks:

Fuze:  We all like playing with slow ass Fuze from time to time, and he has a great gadget; however, unless you are lucky enough to get get the right bounces from his little grenadelets, chances are, you aren’t going to do any real damage to the enemy, as it was typically a kill or nothing with the cluster.  Not anymore!!! Ubisoft has done two amazing things, added another cluster, yes, you will now have three, and they have altered the radii (you can check, that is the plural of radius) of the grenadelets…  Today, the radius of the grenadelets was 2.5 meters, kill or miss for light armored players, and 0-1.2 meters was instadeath for everyone; however, the update now extends that radius out to 4.2 meters (yes, nearly double). Now, from 2.5 meters to 4.2 meters, the damage will not instantly kill a full health player, it will simply damage you.

Bandit: Bandito, my personal favorite defender is getting an additional battery… But why Roadblock? Well, they are doing this due to the addition of Habana in Operation Red Crow. When playing on Border and you are in the workshop/server room, you will actually be able to defend all of the barricaded walls, where today you have to be choosy.

Smoke:  Instead of throwing his gas grenades like they were C4, he will now be able to toss them like a grenade (which is freaking awesome)!

Glaz: Finally you will be able to pull off some great multi-shot combinations due to his fire rate of that sniper rifle being doubled, yes folks, doubled! To add to this, they have also reduced his recoil for the first shot.


Blackbeard:  Poor Blackbeard, he will no longer be able to hang outside a window and mow down people for as long as he used to…Today, his shield has 150HP; however, the update will be dropping this down to 60HP. Think about that, if your pistol does 30hp damage, 2 shots will wipe out his shield.  Damn, that is harsh, but wait, they didn’t stop there!  They also slowed down his aim down sight (ADS) time from 0.25 seconds to 0.7 seconds, and if you are sprinting, hell, just hip fire because it will now take you 0.8 seconds to ADS where today it is a blazing 0.35 seconds (in comparison). There are a ton of gun changes when it comes to recoil and rise; however, that would take me forever to replicate for all of you, so if you would like to see those changes, please visit the Ubisoft update page linked down below.  The main thing to know, if you are using a SMG, your gun will be better than it is today, with less rise and lower recoil, and if you are using an Assault Rifle, you recoil and rise will go up.  Again, check the page to see how you will be effected.  Thanks for reading, and please check back regularly for more gaming updates!
